Archiving Policy

The Archiving Policy for the Iraqi Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (IJAIML) is designed to guarantee the long-term digital preservation and permanent availability of all published scientific research. To protect the scholarly record against unforeseen data loss or portal downtime, the journal utilizes multi-layered digital backup and repository solutions.

Archiving Policy

1. Open Journal Systems (OJS) & PKP Preservation Network

Because IJAIML is built on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, it integrates natively with the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN).

  • LOCKSS System: The journal utilizes the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) system to create a decentralized, distributed archiving network among participating libraries globally. This ensures that even in the event of a catastrophic server failure, the complete journal archives can be fully restored and remain accessible.

  • CLOCKSS System: The journal also supports Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (CLOCKSS) protocols to ensure secure, long-term preservation of the digital publisher files.

2. Institutional Archiving

As an official academic publication of Al-Iraqia University, all published volumes, issues, and metadata are permanently mirrored and backed up on the secure institutional servers maintained by the Office of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs. This dual-layer backup system isolates the journal content from external hosting disruptions.

3. Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) & Metadata Harvesting

  • CrossRef Integration: Every article accepted and published in IJAIML is assigned a unique, permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) via CrossRef. This ensures that the article's URL and routing remain persistent over time, preventing broken citation links.

  • Open Archives Initiative (OAI-PMH): The journal portal supports the OAI-PMH protocol, allowing external scholarly engines, university repositories, and national databases to seamlessly harvest and index the journal's metadata, maximizing digital redundancy.

4. Author Self-Archiving (Green Open Access)

IJAIML actively encourages authors to participate in the archiving process. Authors retain full copyright of their work and are explicitly permitted to deposit any version of their manuscript (Pre-print, Post-print/Accepted Version, or the final Publisher PDF) into:

  • Their university's institutional repository.

  • Public subject-specific repositories.

  • Personal or professional website portals (e.g., ResearchGate, Google Scholar).

Note: All self-archived versions must include a clear bibliographic reference and a direct link to the original URL or DOI on the official journal portal (ijaiml.net).
