Open Access Policy

The Iraqi Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (IJAIML) is committed to the principles of open science and the global democratization of knowledge. The journal provides immediate, permanent, and unrestricted open access to all its published scientific content.

This policy ensures that research is freely available to the public, fostering broader regional and global scientific exchange, accelerating innovation, and increasing the visibility of scholarly work.

1. Platinum (Diamond) Open Access Model

IJAIML operates under a Platinum (Diamond) Open Access model. All articles published by the journal are made available online immediately upon publication without any cost to the reader. Furthermore, because the journal is fully supported by the Office of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs at Al-Iraqia University, authors face zero financial barriers, as there are no submission or publication fees.

2. Creative Commons Licensing

All articles published in IJAIML are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

Under this license, users are free to:

  • Share: Copy, distribute, and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

     

Under the following terms:

 

  • Attribution: Users must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. This must be done in a reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the journal or the authors endorse the user or their specific use of the work.

     

3. Benefits for Authors and Researchers

By maintaining a strict Open Access framework, IJAIML provides significant advantages to the scientific community:

  • Maximum Global Visibility: Because there are no subscription barriers, paywalls, or login requirements, articles can be discovered, read, and cited by researchers, students, and practitioners worldwide.

  • Higher Citation Impact: Open-access papers traditionally receive higher citation rates compared to articles behind subscription paywalls.

  • Compliance with Funder Mandates: The CC BY 4.0 framework aligns perfectly with international research funding requirements that mandate open-access publication.

4. Self-Archiving and Repository Policy (Green Open Access)

IJAIML encourages authors to actively share and deposit their work. Authors retain the copyright of their articles and are permitted—and encouraged—to post any version of their manuscript (Pre-print, Accepted Manuscript, or the final Publisher's PDF Version) to:

  • Personal websites or blogs.

  • Institutional repositories (e.g., Al-Iraqia University's digital archive).

  • Independent academic networks (e.g., ResearchGate, Google Scholar, Academia.edu).

When self-archiving, authors must provide an explicit citation and a direct link to the original publication on the official OJS portal (ijaiml.net).
