Writing Rules

Guide for Authors & Writing Rules

1. General Requirements

  • Originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished work, and not concurrently under consideration by any other journal or conference.

  • Language: All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise academic English.

  • Plagiarism Policy: All submitted papers undergo a rigorous plagiarism check using Turnitin. The maximum acceptable similarity index is less than 20% overall, and less than 5% from any single source. Papers exceeding this limit will be rejected immediately.

  • Review Process: The journal applies a double-blind peer-review process. Authors must ensure their identities are removed from the initial submission file to maintain anonymity.

2. Manuscript Format & Layout

Authors are strictly required to use the official IJAIML Word Template available on the website.

  • File Type: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).

  • Page Layout: Standard A4 size, setup in a one-column format.

  • Font: Times New Roman throughout the document.

    • Title: 24 pt, Bold, Centered.

    • Author Names & Affiliations: 10 pt, Regular (Only added in the final camera-ready version).

    • Abstract & Keywords: 9 pt, Bold heading, Regular text.

    • Main Headings (Section I, II, etc.): 10 pt, Small Caps, Centered.

    • Sub-headings: 10 pt, Italic, Left-aligned.

    • Body Text: 10 pt, Regular, Justified, single-spaced.

3. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should generally contain the following distinct sections:

  1. Title: Descriptive, specific, and clear.

  2. Abstract: A single, self-contained paragraph (150–250 words) outlining the research problem, the proposed AI/ML methodology, key experimental results, and primary conclusions. Do not include citations or acronyms without definition.

  3. Keywords: 4 to 6 specific keywords separated by commas (e.g., Deep learning, Convolutional neural networks, Computer vision).

  4. Introduction: Sets the research context, outlines the problem statement, states the main contributions, and details the structure of the paper.

  5. Related Work / Literature Review: Critical analysis of relevant existing methodologies and developments in the field.

  6. Methodology / Proposed Framework: Detailed description of the proposed models, algorithms, mathematical formulations, and system architecture.

  7. Experimental Results and Discussion: Comprehensive evaluation of the system, data sets used, evaluation metrics (e.g., accuracy, F1-score, execution time), and comparative analysis with state-of-the-art methods.

  8. Conclusion: Summarizes the findings, limitations, and future research directions.

  9. References: Compiled list of all cited literature.

4. Equations, Figures, and Tables

  • Mathematical Formulations: All equations must be editable and written using Word Equation Editor or MathType (do not embed equations as images). Equations must be numbered sequentially in parentheses at the right margin.

  • Figures: High-resolution diagrams, flowcharts, or graphs embedded directly within the text. Figures must be centered with a descriptive caption below the graphic (e.g., Figure 1. Block diagram of the proposed transformer model).

  • Tables: Must be created as editable tables (not images), centered, with a descriptive title placed above the table (e.g., Table 1. Performance metrics comparison).

5. Citation and Reference Style

  • Formatting: IJAIML strictly follows the IEEE referencing style.

  • In-Text Citations: References must be numbered sequentially in the order of their appearance in the text using square brackets, such as [1], [2], or [3–5].

  • Reference List: Complete bibliographic information must be provided at the end of the manuscript.

    • Journal Article Example: [1] A. B. Author, "Title of the paper," Iraqi Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, vol. 1, no. 2, pp. 45–52, 2026.

    • Book Example: [2] C. D. Author, Principles of Machine Learning, 2nd ed. Publisher City: Publisher Name, 2024.

6. Submission & Publication Charges

  • How to Submit: Papers must be submitted online through the OJS submission portal at ijaiml.net or via journal email: editor@ijaiml.net
